About SGD DUBU SO GONG DONG TOFU & KOREAN BBQ
SoGong- Dong, a small county of central Seoul, is a Korean historical place where princess Kyoung-Jung, a second daughter of King Tae Jong had resided. In this historical spot, there are several well known Korean cultural properties such as Sungnyemun. Sungnyemun, the first National Treasure of South Korea, is one of the Eight Gates and it was built to protect the palace in Joseon Dynasty. We, SGD, believe that Sungnyemun is especially meaningful to Korean.

Tried this restaurant today and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The food was delicious and surprisingly affordable. The seafood pancake was the standout โ crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful inside. We ordered a huge table full of dishes, and the total was still under $100. Amazing value for the quality and portion sizes. Highly recommend!

I usually get sausage stew sundubu and itโs pretty packed with ingredients. Iโve gotten kalguksu noodles a couple of times too, and I think itโs good, but the flavor gets a little diluted. Also, the soup gets thicker, which I like (but other people might not). Staff is super warm and welcoming. Definitely a good place to check out.

The soondubu (soft tofu soup) is definitely the star. It comes out boiling hot and super rich, with a deep, savory broth that actually tastes like itโs been simmered properlyโnot watered down like some places. You can choose your spice level too, which is nice depending on your mood. The portions are really satisfying, especially with the rice that comes on the side. The banchan (side dishes) are also solidโsimple but fresh, and they complement the soup really well. It makes the whole meal feel more complete and authentic. The vibe is pretty casual and lowkey, not super fancy, but that kind of works because it feels like a true comfort food spot. Service is usually quick, and the food comes out fast, which is perfect when youโre actually hungry.

Surprisingly, for how delicious the food is, the store is fairly vacant. So the service is extremely attentive. You get ordered within 5 minutes as long as you know your order, and get food soon after. First came the sides, and the complimentary tea. Thereโs radish, some kind of corn coleslaw (??), kimchi, cucumber kimchi, and tofu. The liquid is a dipping sauce for the spring rolls, which came next. Crunchy and filled with all sorts of veggies and meats. The dumpling jigae came in a boiling hot stone bowl, it wasnโt too hot, but it built up overtime. And last time I ate it with ramen noodles instead and it was superb. The katsu bento was an assortment of many little things. Japchae, katsu, rice, fried tempura, and mini salad, fried dumpling and a spring rolls. Itโs huge though, so Iโd suggest splitting it. And finally came the bibimbap in a hot stone bowl. I didnโt try any but it looked delicious, with meat, rice, and other veggies assorted together. 10/10, would recommend.

The staff was super polite. The food was really good at first I thought it didnโt have a lot of flavor, but then I tried the pickled things next to it and I was shook. Had that good K-pop Demon Hunter type music on
